Dear 小蓝视频 Faculty and Staff:
As we approach the end of the academic year, I wanted to share an update on our ongoing efforts to create a budget model that is balanced and sustainable in the face of a myriad of challenges in higher education. Our budgeting process is guided by our mission, values and strategic planning. With the help of many of you, we have conducted strategic assessments of our academic offerings, finances, and operations. Thank you for your engagement, ideas, questions, and feedback during this detailed and informative process. Our work together has highlighted exciting opportunities and identified areas where we can continue to improve.
The comprehensive budget planning efforts have proceeded alongside many achievements in our community, including our ascension to R1 status in the Carnegie Classification and the historic gift to name the Linda A. and H. Kent Baker School of Education. We know that the rapidly changing higher education landscape, enrollment fluctuations, and external economic factors require strategic and creative approaches to support and expand our progress. These forces are affecting nearly all universities, and our extensive work has put us ahead of many institutions that are just beginning to address challenges. Together, we are building a sustaining and hopeful budget as we continue to differentiate the university, invest in new opportunities, and build a strong foundation for our future.
The FY26 budget proposal is nearing completion and will be considered by the Board of Trustees in May. The attached document outlines the key revenues and savings identified to date. Over the next several weeks we have additional budget work to do, including the ongoing university-wide focus on enrolling the incoming class. We all must continue supporting enrollment efforts at full speed through the summer. Our next community forums are April 17 and April 21, where we will further discuss the budget steps and answer your questions.
